Mónica's Baptism

Excerpt from August 12th email:
"Last Saturday was the baptism of Mónica Méndez and it was WONDERFUL! It really puts a lot of things in perspective as you watch someone you have taught and come to love so much, enter the waters of baptism. The actual ordinance takes only about 30 seconds, but the blessings they receive from the covenant they have made changes a WHOLE life, and their posterity. AMAZING! It rained all day on Saturday, which caused a small turn out at the service, but that didn't distract from the spirit. Mónica was so excited, she showed up at the church an hour early and started preparing herself. She was confirmed on Sunday and was promised in the blessing that she would stay in Ituzaingó and help the work progress, that she would be sealed to her husband in the temple and that she would be an important part of the church in this area. What a blessing! After the branch president welcomed her as a member she bore her testimony, shared a few scriptures and even thanked us for helping her so that she could get baptized. Everyone wants her to have a calling in their orginazation...I give it until Sunday, and she will be in the Young Womens program or teaching Relief Society, or both. It is amazing to me that each and every one of us chose to come to this earth, and that our loving Heavenly Father has a special purpose for ALL His children."

Reflections: sweet, sweet Hermana Schmutz

With Hna. Sal (one of the best members here) who just moved to Buenos Aires...the rama is definitely sad she is gone!

Excerpt from July 22nd email:
". . .As the weeks pass me by, I am still amazed at the love our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. The experiences that I have had here are going to bless me forever. In the grand spectrum of life, 18 months is nothing, but I can honestly say that they have been so worthwhile. I have been thinking a lot lately about the ways I have changed. I wasn't a bad person before, but I just wasn't as committed to the things that matter the most in life. My personality hasn't changed at all, but my priorities have for sure. There are days where I cannot believe that I never took the chance to share this beautiful message with other people that I know and love...I guess I will just have to make up for it after."

New companion Hna. Glade, District Meeting and 4th of July in Ituzaingó!!!!

Excerpt from Hermana Schmutz's July 1st email:
"Well, another transfer has come and gone…I´m still in Ituzaingó, with the lovely Hermana Glade, who I get to “kill” as all the nerdy missionaries like to say. Can you believe I doubled my wardrobe? Well, now you all know, my priorities never change…joking, joking, relax.
I am actually extremely excited to be here again with her. We work really well together and have seen some really great people progress…We have a lot of faith that great things are going to happen here in Ituzaingó. This last week was a week of miracles. It´s so amazing, how when we put forth even a little more effort, the Lord blesses us immensely!"

Excerpt from Hermana Schmutz's July 8th email:
"We had a nice week, we woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday to our very own 4th of July fireworks show, brought to us by mother nature herself. The lightning and thunder was constant and loud, shaking our house for more than an hour so we couldn´t sleep...my inteligent companion jumped out of bed after waiting for 30 minutes and said, "that´s it, we´re filming this!" So we did. One week when I have more time I will send you the footage, it´s pretty incredible."
