sistermissionarymall.org/modestnotmissionary

I gave in yesterday, and went to the Sister Missionary Mall. It was something I didn't ever think I would do. But, as I passed it on my way to the Distribution Center I just couldn't help but take a look at the place that claims to have all your missionary needs. The girls who work there are so friendly and great, and as return missionaries themselves I think they have a lot to offer the customers. If only the same were true about the actual merchandise. They had some cute skirts on sale, but they were only in sizes 0 and 20. Okay, understandable, they are on the sale rack. But the same was true about skirts they just recently gotten in as well. The only skirts they had in my size weren't even missionary appropriate. They actually had a lot of clothing that wouldn't even be wearable on a mission, modest and missionary are two different clothing categories.

I did however find a sweater that I loved. A cute little number from Banana Republic and it was on sale for $15. Silly me, I assumed that all their clothing must be conducive to the spirit of missionary fashion and bought it. Later I proudly showed it to my mom and she said, "Oh sweetie, it's cute but it's cashmere. It will need to be dry cleaned." What? I bought it at sistermissionarymall.org. Shouldn't they know best about what NOT to wear on a mission? I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed. But I still love my sweater, even if it doesn't fit the "easy to care for" standard.

Now, I do want to point out that there were some positives about this experience. They do have a lot of very nice looking, colorful shirts to buy. Their prices are quite good and if you want slips they are the people to see. But, I think we can all agree that the top part of our body is the easiest to cover. In the end my advice would be, if you live in the Provo/Orem area you should check it out because it is close and you will find a handful of nice things. But, if you don't live a short distance away you may as well stick to the mall.
